Head Coach

Starke County Blue Dolphins (SCBD) serving Starke County Indiana is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Head Coach. We are looking for a seasoned coach who shares SCBD’s mission to support age group swim club. Our head coach will be responsible for creating an atmosphere that is safe, fun, and educational for all levels of swimming. Our head coach will work with the SCBD board to create a program that encourages swimmers to achieve individual and club goals by using a variety of wet and dry land techniques. We are looking for a coach that serves as the public face of the club as we work with various public and private entities to bring an Aquatics Facility to our community.

POSITION:
Part-time 1099 Contract position reporting directly to the SCBD board, subject to annual renewal.
Pay will be based on qualifications and experience.
Time commitment will vary by season.
Must be available Monday through Friday evenings as well as meets and SCBD events scheduled on various weekends.
Start Date: TBD

CLUB DESCRIPTION:
Starke County Blue Dolphins is parent board run, age group competitive swimming program based in Knox, IN. We offer children an opportunity to grow as competitive swimmers on local, regional, and national levels. We are part of USA Swimming, the governing body for age group swimming nationwide. We are a registered 501©3 corporation in the State of Indiana.

PRIMARY COACHING DUTIES:
1. Establish and maintain communications with other SCBD coaches, athletes, parents and board.
2. Develop and maintain a coaching schedule among all the coaches.
3. Develop and lead wet and dry-land programs for all age group swimmers.
4. Utilize Active Swim Manager to track individual progress.
5. Other responsibilities to be negotiated at time of contract.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Competitive Swimming Experience
2. Coaching Experience
3. Able to meet USA-Swimming Coaching Safety Requirements and pass all applicable background checks.

COMPENSATION:
1. Hourly, dependent on qualifications and experience
2. Expense reimbursement for training and travel

Club's Philosophy

The club`s philosophy focuses around each individual swimmer`s development of stroke, technique, training capacity, and most importantly, the enjoyment of the sport. SCBD will strive to provide an environment where swimmers may compete in local, regional, and national competitions to inspire and enable our members to achieve excellence in the sport of swimming and to develop to their best potential.

Season Starts September 9, 2019
Season Ends February 16, 2020
SCBD has a Great season planned for this winter season 2019-20. Practices will be Monday – Thursday. Check the calendar on our website for times. www.starkecountybluedolphins.org

We have added the OUTREACH to the registration!!! This is for low Income families
Price for whole season OUTREACH $345 with a monthly pay of $57.50

Price for the whole season is $420.00 with a monthly pay of $70
This is for everything this year = SCBD Fee + USA fee + IN fee + NWISC fee.
This price does not include meet fees.
SCBD is adding a new restriction this year. “All new swimmer to SCBD will have to be able to swim 25 Yards (one length of the pool) without stopping.
Or
Participate in the Knox High School Learn to Swim program and pass a swim test on the final day. (There will be 2 sessions of swim lessons. September 9–12 and 16-19.) For more info on the Swim Lessons please contact: Jacqueline Zaiko @ jzaiko@knox.k12.in.us

Practices for winter season will be Monday – Thursday 5:15 – 6:45pm.

We will try to have at least 2 meets per month. With a few dual / tri way meets and a few Inter- squad meets.

All swimmer will practice at the same time. As we try and build a better team atmosphere for your swimmers. (Swimmers will be split into lanes with swimmers of their like abilities.)
